Save the Seawalls, Save Scituate!
The US Army Corps of Engineers is considering replacing these seawalls. We need your support to encourage
them to commit to do this!
Scituate Harbor is protected by crumbling seawalls
Scituate Harbor, Cedar Point, and the Scituate Lighthouse are among the most beautiful parts of the South Shore, if not New England.
This area has weathered many nor'easters over the years and the community seawalls are at risk of failure.
With a relatively modest investment the walls can be replaced and serve the town well for another 100 years.
How we got here: Decades of storms
Much of Scituate gets hit hard by winter blizzards and nor'easters.
Residents are well prepared with generators and evacuation plans for when things get rough!
Every 75-100 or so years, repairing or replacing the seawalls is necessary to keep the roads open and the community safe.

News
Scituate was fortunate to have been paid a visit by Congressman Stephen F. Lynch on April 9, 2021. Congressman Lynch toured the seawall and discussed design, funding and other options with residents led by David Ball.
We are grateful to Representative Patrick Kearney for putting together a meeting today to show Federal officials the very poor condition of the Lighthouse and Rebecca Road seawalls. In just a few days, Rep. Kearney was able to get Farrah Ridore from Senator Warren's office, Jim Cantwell from Senator Markey's office, and Congressman Stephen Lynch to commit to meeting the Cedar Point Seawall Committee onsite at the walls. Also in attendance were Town Administrator, Jim Boudreau, DPW Director Kevin Cafferty, and Selectman Andrew Goodrich.
